    OUR CHILDREN’S VISION CAMPAIGN TO SCREEN 50 MILLION CHILDREN BY 2020 Global Optometric community invited to help stem the dramatic impact of myopia (New York, NY, 12 April 2016): Optometry Giving Sight was pleased to co-host the official launch of the Our Children’s Vision Campaign at the Australian Consulate in New York today. This new global campaign has been initiated by the Brien Holden Vision Institute and the Vision for Life™ fund, created by Essilor. It seeks to bring together governments, development agencies, the private sector, eye health practitioners and communities with the goal of screening 50 million children worldwide for vision impairments by 2020.

    PRESS RELEASE Thanks a Million, Vision Source! Denver CO (7 April, 2016): Optometry Giving Sight is delighted to announce that the Vision Source Million Dollar Campaign has now achieved its target. The campaign, which was initiated in April 2014, sought to increase the amount of funds available to support all of Optometry Giving Sight’s funded projects throughout the world, with a specific focus on the proposed new School of Optometry in Haiti. The target was achieved at the recent Vision Source Exchange meeting in San Antonio.

  3. IACLE announces 2016 awards winners from three global regions

    IACLE has today announced the winners of the 2016 IACLE Contact Lens Educator of the Year Awards to recognise and reward achievement in contact lens education worldwide, and the IACLE Travel Award for an educator starting out on his/her career. Each will receive a bursary of up to US$3,000 towards the cost of attending a major international conference during 2016.

    (Sydney, Australia). Optometry Giving Sight has today announced the consolidation of its Global Board and Global Development Board, creating a new Board structure with 11 members.

  5. WCO Announces New Executive Director

    The World Council of Optometry (WCO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark A. Bullimore MCOptom, PhD, FAAO as its new Executive Director. Dr. Bullimore is a British-trained optometrist and accomplished scientist who has taught optometry students in the UK, USA and Trinidad and Tobago and has lectured to professional groups on four continents. He is the former President and Development Director of the American Optometric Foundation and the former Editor of Optometry and Vision Science, the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry.
